Bristol's Brilliant Archaeology

Bristol 's Brilliant Archaeology was part of the nationwide Festival of Archaeology, we were lucky enough to have a stand, sharing a gazebo with our friends from the Clifton Antiquarian Club.

The festival was extremely well attended with over 1300 visitors and many, many very enthusiastic young archaeologists and historians.

Alongside the Travelling History Company were, to name but a few, Historic England, Cotswold and Wessex Archaeology, Bristol and Avon Archaeological Society. We had some medieval music, delicious Roman food and Iron Age coin manufacture.

The Travelling History Team

The Young Archaeologists Club were present - they are completely oversubscribed, again illustrating the level of interest in archaeology (bring back the A level!).

Christine Molan once again had a stand with her amazing paintings of Roman Abonae (Sea Mills), along with the Egyptian Society and Bristol University demonstrating some hi tech equipment - there really was something for everybody this year.

There were great opportunities for children and grown ups to mint some Iron Age coins and taste Roman honey cake.

We were very busy all day on our stand, lots of interest in our prehistoric excursions and interestingly, for historic birthday parties, which would be great fun!

We have some scheduled activities planned for August, click here for details and we are of course delighted to arrange bespoke outings for families or groups of families.
