With the long dark evenings about to set in we are embarking on our Urban Astronomy programme. From the scout hut in Kewstoke Road we shall be exploring the night sky from a scientific and historical perspective over a series of four sessions leading up to Christmas.
On clear nights we shall be using telescopes to observe and recreate some of the observations and experiments of the great 17th and 18th century pioneers of astronomy. We shall probably also journey back into prehistory and quite likely, ancient China. If cloudy we shall be exploring the night sky through planetarium software and lots of imagery, discussion and debate.
